How To delete an undeletable file or folder
For some reaso
n you might want to delete a
file and you not able to.When you try to delete it you get a message "Unable
to delete or rename "myfile." because in use to another
application. Close any program that might be using the file and try again"
Make sure for the following:
There is not any sharing violation
The file or folder is not in use by another program or user
The disk is not full or write-protected
The destination file might be in use
If you can't delete the file yet then the file may be corrupted, so try
this:
- 1> Close any program running
- 2> Restart your computer
- 3> Try to delete it now
- If unsuccessful then
- 4> restart your computer and when it starts booting
press F8
- to get the Windows Advanced Options Menu
- 5 >Select Safe Mode to start Windows and press enter
- 6> when,after few minutes, the login screen appears
type your
username and password ( if you have one) and press enter.Remember that you
must have Administrator privilege .
- 7>Now you are logged in in a safe mode.Locate the file
you wanted to delete and try to do it now.
- 8> If your efforts were successful just restart your
computer in a normal Windows mode.If you not just get the advise of an
expert IT professional
- to do the job.
