You can easily close the Sidebar but if you want to completely close all the gadgets, even the detached ones, then you must exit the Sidebar.

Let us see how :.

  1. To close the Sidebar,Right-click the sidebar and choose Close from the dropdown menu)
  2. To exit the Sidebar, Right-click the Window Sidebar in the taskbar and choose exit from the dropdown menu.
  3. To avoid the Sidebar to start automatically, go Start/All Programs / Windows Defender and click tools (see fig 3).
  4. Click Software Explorer.
  5. On the next window select Microsoft Windows Sidebar on the left pane (See Fig 4)and click Disable and confirm when you are prompted to do so.
  6. Next time you start Vista a pop-up message will inform you that a startup program has been blocked by Windows.

     Tips

  • Exiting the Sidebar removes it from the desktop and the sidebar button from the taskbar
  • Shuts down all the gadgets so they are not using any memory .
