When,for some reason,you have to change one or all your personal folders location,just follow these steps..
By the way,Personal folders are Document, Picture, Music ecc.
Click on Start and then ,If your Account Name is Joe click on it at the Top of the Start Menu(Figure 1)l
Right-click the personal folder you want to change,Picture in this case,but it's the same with any other personal folder and click on Property from the drop down menu(Figure 2)
Click on the Location Tab and,if you know the new path,just Type it in the TextBox or else click on
Find Target,browse to the new location and press OK.(Figure 3)
To undo just click Restore Default
Tips
To back-up your files easyly,it might be convenient to make top-level folders,for example, C:\WorkDocuments and C:\Personal
Documents
On Vista all your personal folders like My Documents and My Pictures,don't have My anymore and became Documents and Pictures
.
To open a personal subfolder click on the link below your account name
Right-click the Folder you want to share and choose property from the dropdown
menu
On the Property window(Figure 4) click Sharing tab and Share button
Follow the prompts
Tips
To add a user you want to share files with
on the File Sharing Dialog box (Figure 5)Type the name of the user and click Add
If your computer is part of a Workgroup
Click the arrow on the left, choose the user and click Add
.
If your computer is part of a Workgroup and you don't see the user in the list
Click the arrow on the right and choose Create a New User to create a new Account
