How to clean up the Hard Drive

   When  your hard drive is about to be full  the first task to try to get some space is to run the automated Disk cleanup.So you can get rid of all the temporary files components of old programs,various junk and the best of all you can do all this safely.

  1. Click on Start /All Programs / Accessories / System tools / Disk Cleanup.
  2. On the first window you can choose whether to clean only your personal folders or all the files Click the option you selected(See Fig.1)
  3. In the second window select the drive you want to clean and click OK  (see Fig 2)
  4. In the Disk Cleanup Windows Vista puts a tick in the box next to the files that can be deleted safely but if you know what you are doing you can check the box next to any other file and it will be deleted(See Fig.3)




     Tips

  • In the More Option tab contains other cleanup tools to remove programs and System Restore restore point
  • On the temporary files you actually delete only files older than a week but if you want to delete them manually go Start / Run or click the Windows logo + R
  • Type %temp% and press enter .A  folder with all the temporary files opens and you can delete them all.
