If you run out of ink on your printer Canon Pixma MP500 and you don't want to spend a fortune to buy original ink cartridges you can either find compatible cartridges on the net or refill them on your own which I think is the best way.
1) The first step will be buying the ink.

2) When you finish, just put them back in the printer following the instructions on the printer's manual on how to replace ink cartridge.
3) Run the "cleaning head" utility that's normally on the printer' property
Start\control panel\Printers and Faxes Right click on the printer you want and select property and maintenance Tab :
4) the computer will show " Ink has run out" press stop/reset button on the printer for 5 seconds and ok,
This action disables the ink level warning and you will have to pay more attention and if you notice the printing effect is getting bad such as lack of color,it proves that the ink in the cartridge has run out and you need to fill it again.
